The cloth
Chanderi
A sheer, glassy cotton-silk. Holds its shape without weight and catches light along the fold.
A straight-cut chanderi kurta with a narrow mandarin placket, worn over tapered trousers and a matching dupatta with a hand-rolled hem. The ivory is undyed rather than bleached, so it reads warm against the skin instead of blue-white.
Wear it with the dupatta thrown once over the left shoulder and left long at the back.
Model is 5'8" and wears a size S
Chanderi is woven from unbleached, ungummed yarn, which is where its transparency comes from — the raw silk warp is never degummed, so the fabric keeps a glassy sheen instead of a matte finish. It is a difficult cloth to sew and an easy one to wear: almost weightless, but structured enough to hold a pleat. The town has been weaving it since the thirteenth century, and the GI registration now protects roughly four thousand looms.
Dry clean only. Store folded with the fold line shifted every few months so it does not set.
Complimentary shipping across India on orders above ₹5,000. Dispatched from Bengaluru.
Seven-day exchange or store credit on unworn pieces with tags attached. See the refund policy for how refunds are handled.
